Our Land & Development surveyor Ben Lamont has completed the Row4ACure challenge which has raised a staggering £58,560 (so far!) in aid of Prostate Cancer UK, smashing their £50,000 target.
Ben and 11 of his friends, all who have never rowed before, braved the elements and rowed the Irish Sea, from Arklow to Abersoch. It entailed a continuous row for approximately 100 miles (24 plus hours) in a four person Celtic Longboat. This is a fixed seat single oar boat, which made the challenge a real test of endurance.
The team departed Arklow early on Wednesday 25th July and arrived in Abersoch at 7:00AM on Thursday 26th, being greeted and celebrating with family and friends.
Commenting on the team’s achievement, Ben Lamont said:-
The support and generosity that myself and the guys have received throughout this challenge has been completely overwhelming.
The challenge was a mental and physical endurance but I couldn’t have wished to have done it with a better group of guys.
It is so important that we continue to raise awareness of this illness and take the fight to cancer.
Legat Owen are so pleased for Ben and his friends on their achievement which will help raise awareness of Prostate Cancer.
