A director at Chester-based property consultancy Legat Owen is set to lose his locks for charity as part of the company’s 40th anniversary fundraising campaign.

From 1 October, director Mark Diaper will spend 40 days growing his hair, beard and moustache before undergoing a complete shave-off on 9 November in a fundraising challenge dubbed “The Big 40 Shave”.

The challenge forms part of Legat Owen’s year-long efforts to raise £40,000 for four charities as the firm celebrates four decades in business.

Mark, who is well known to clients and colleagues across the region, said:

“I’ve had plenty of time to regret volunteering for this challenge, especially knowing just how much photographic evidence there will be along the way.”

“But our 40th anniversary is a fantastic opportunity to give something back to the communities that have supported Legat Owen over the years. If sacrificing my hair, beard and moustache helps raise money for some great causes, then it will be well worth it.”

“I’m sure there will be plenty of laughter at my expense before, during and after the shave, but hopefully people will support the fundraising effort and help us reach our target of £40,000.”

Legat Owen has been serving clients across Chester, Cheshire, North Wales and the wider North West since 1986 and has spent the year marking its 40th anniversary with a calendar of fundraising initiatives.

Funds raised will be shared between four local charities:

The Big 40 Shave will culminate on Monday 9 November when Mark undergoes the full transformation, with colleagues, friends, clients and supporters encouraged to donate and follow his progress throughout October.

Matt Pochin, Managing Director, Legat Owen said:

“Mark’s challenge is one of the highlights of our 40th anniversary fundraising programme.”

“While there will no doubt be plenty of entertainment in watching Mark’s transformation over the coming weeks and then seeing it all disappear in one sitting, the real purpose is to raise as much money as possible for four fantastic charities.”

“Supporting our communities has always been important to Legat Owen, and we’re looking forward to seeing clients, colleagues and friends get behind the challenge.”
