Leading property consultancy Legat Owen has completed the latest phase of refurbishment work of its Chester headquarters, combining a contemporary working environment within the historic character of Albion House.
The project has seen the transformation of the first floor and reception area at Albion House, following the refurbishment of the ground floor last year, as part of Legat Owen’s continued investment in its Chester office.
Designed to create a more collaborative and welcoming environment for colleagues and clients, the new space balances improved functionality and contemporary design with the building’s distinctive period features.
The refurbishment celebrates Albion House’s original architectural features, including its impressive vaulted ceiling, now enhanced by carefully positioned uplighting that showcases its distinctive character.
Natalie Tansey, Director at Legat Owen, said:
“We have called Albion House home for more than 20 years, so it was important to create a workspace that reflects how we work today while retaining the character that makes the building so special.”
“The way people use office space has changed considerably over that time. We wanted to create an environment that encourages collaboration, provides a great experience for our clients and gives our team a workplace they can really enjoy.”
“We are delighted with the result. It feels fresh and contemporary but still unmistakably Albion House.”
The project was led by Janine Moore of Pure Commercial Interiors, whose team oversaw the design and delivery of the refurbishment.
Natalie added:
“Janine and the team at Pure Commercial Interiors have done a fantastic job. The quality of the design, functionality and attention to detail has made a real difference to the space and to the way we work.”
Legat Owen moved to Albion House in 2004, but the building’s history stretches back centuries. Originally part of Park House on Lower Bridge Street, which dates from around 1717, it was converted into the Albion Hotel and ballroom in 1818. The ballroom, now home to Legat Owen’s offices, was the largest in Chester at the time.
The completion of the project comes during Legat Owen’s 40th anniversary year. The firm is marking the milestone with a year-long programme of fundraising activity aimed at raising £40,000 for four local charities.
