Legat Owen is pleased to announce the successful completion of roof replacement and refurbishment works at Winsford Cross Shopping Centre.
Working on behalf of Cheshire West and Chester Council, Legat Owen has procured and project managed a package of site improvement works across the Shopping Centre. The works were carried out on-site by local roofing contractor RMLFS.
This significant upgrade marks a major milestone for the Centre and the landlord’s commitment to providing a safe, comfortable shopping experience for all visitors.
Prior to work commencing and following persistent water ingress issues at the site, Legat Owen’s Building Surveying team were initially instructed to undertake a Specific Defects Survey. Having identified various defects, the ambitious repair and refurbishment project began in August 2024 and involved the replacement of the Centre’s ageing barrel roofs with sleek, contemporary curved roofs, adding a fresh, inviting look to the Centre.
In addition, central feature glazed roofs have been improved, and large areas of felt flat roofing over multiple retail units have been refurbished to modern standards. This work included the installation of improved insulation to increase the thermal performance of the units.
Chris Marsh, Associate Director within Legat Owen’s Building Surveying Department, oversaw the mammoth project and commented:
“It was critical that businesses within the Shopping Centre remained open throughout the project, and customers were able to shop safely with minimal disruption. This was a tricky task. The Centre is busy throughout the day and undertaking works directly above public areas required careful planning and management. The success of the project is testament to the hard work of the whole project team involved.”
