We’re proud to celebrate Mark Diaper, Director at Legat Owen, for his role in securing the Lease of the Year for Wales at the CoStar Impact Awards.
The letting of Deeside63 to Meiller‑Boweld, was described by judges as a major milestone for one of the UK’s leading manufacturers of steel tipper truck bodies.
The 63,200 sq ft, state‑of‑the‑art industrial facility sets a benchmark for sustainability, designed to be operationally net zero and built to EPC A and BREEAM Very Good standards. The independent judges highlighted the project’s strong ESG credentials and its positive impact on Deeside’s position as a modern regional logistics hub.
What the judges said: Cenydd Rowlands, property director, Development Bank of Wales, said “the lease helps facilitate the growth in one of our leading manufacturers and also demonstrates clear commitment to best-in-class carbon and ESG standards, positively impacting Deeside’s prominence as a modern regional logistics hub”.
Huw Thomas, director, Huw Thomas Commercial Property Consultancy, said this “new manufacturing base’s sustainable ESG criteria will have a major impact on employment in the wider region”, and Henry Best, director, Jenkins Best, said the scheme was notable for the “overall quality of [its] development and sustainability features”.
Gary Carver, director, office agency, Savills, added the project “represents an excellent deal for both parties. The developer was prepared speculatively to build a net-zero unit with excellent sustainability standards, and [this] letting has justified this investment.”
A huge congratulations to Mark and to everyone involved for contributing to a scheme that reflects the very best in industrial development, sustainability, and regional growth.
