To celebrate its 40th anniversary in 2026, leading North West property consultancy Legat Owen is undertaking a year-long fundraising programme aimed at raising £40,000 for local charities, with a headline 40 hour charity walk taking place this June.

From midnight on Thursday 18 June, members of the Legat Owen team will walk the historic Chester City Walls continuously for 40 hours, as part of a wider programme of fundraising activities running throughout the anniversary year.

The challenge will see the team repeatedly walking the full two mile circuit of the Chester City Walls – the oldest, longest and most complete Roman defensive walls in Britain, with sections dating back more than 2,000 years. The setting provides a powerful and symbolic backdrop for a business celebrating four decades rooted in the region.

Commenting on the initiative, Matthew Pochin, Managing Director at Legat Owen, said:

“£40k for 40 Years is about more than marking a milestone – it’s about giving something meaningful back to the community that has supported us for the past 40 years.  Our 40 hour walk in June is a key milestone in our anniversary fundraising, but it’s part of a much bigger picture. Throughout 2026 we’ll be running a series of events and initiatives to help us reach our overall £40,000 target.”

“The walk is about building momentum, raising awareness and bringing our team together behind causes that really matter to us.”

Funds raised will be shared between four charities chosen for the vital and practical support they provide locally:

  • Save the Family – supporting families in crisis and helping them build stable, independent futures
  • Rape & Sexual Abuse Support Centre (Cheshire & Merseyside) – providing specialist support to survivors of sexual violence
  • Wingate Special Children’s Trust – supporting children with special needs to thrive
  • The Joshua Tree – supporting children and families affected by childhood cancers

Matthew added:

“Each of these charities plays an essential role in our community, often working with individuals and families at the most challenging moments of their lives. Our aim across our 40th year is not only to raise funds, but to shine a spotlight on the incredible work they do every day.”

Legat Owen is inviting clients, contacts and members of the wider community to support the challenge by donating through its online fundraising page here.

“Every donation, whether large or small, helps move us closer to our £40,000 goal,” continued Matthew. “We’re incredibly grateful for the generosity shown so far and hope many more people will get behind the walk and the wider fundraising programme over the coming months.”

As Legat Owen celebrates four decades, the 40 hour walk stands as both a celebration of past success and a renewed commitment to giving back to the community it proudly serves.
