Legat Owen convened at the Cholmondeley Estate in June to compete in a hard-fought match of rounders. Spectators flocked from far and wide to witness as the “Legat Legends” took on the “Throwin’ Owens”.
On the day, by far the highest scorer from the crease was Ben Lamont, who wowed the crowds with his poise and raw power with the bat (once he changed out of his deck shoes). His skill was matched only by Diane Edwards and Sue Wigfield who soared majestically to catch difficult balls, breaking the surly bonds of gravity, and eventually returning to earth only for post-match dinner and drinks at the Cholmondeley Arms.
A special mention goes also to our new apprentice, Cameron Barry, who’ll be a real asset to the LO team if his tenacity and cunning as a batsman is anything to go by.
Sharp summer showers came along to interrupt play at times but as the Sun began to set; scoring accuracy having long since been forgotten, the only true winner of the afternoon was the proud sport of rounders.
