Legat Owen is pleased to announce the sale of the former West Derby Bowling Club to local charity Liverpool Zoe’s Place.

Liverpool Zoe’s Place, the renowned children’s hospice charity, has acquired the Former West Derby Bowling Club, located on Haymans Green in the heart of West Derby Village, Liverpool. The 0.98-acre site, which includes a Victorian clubhouse, bowling green, pavilion and ancillary buildings, will be redeveloped to support Liverpool Zoe’s Place’s mission of providing vital care and support to children with life-limiting and life-threatening conditions.

Will Rees, Director at Legat Owen commented:

“The property’s sale has been something of a journey due to the original charity failing to complete a sale.  The directors of the Club have worked closely with the new charity to secure a sale and see the property’s future support this important local cause.”

The property’s location, within a primarily residential area and the West Derby Village Conservation Area, made it a prime site for sensitive redevelopment that aligns with community values.

Hannah Baker, Associate Director at Legat Owen commented:

“We’re delighted to have facilitated the sale of this unique and historic site to Liverpool Zoe’s Place.  The Former West Derby Bowling Club has long been a part of the local community, and the owners are pleased to see it pass into the hands of an organisation that will continue to serve the people of Liverpool in such a meaningful way. We look forward to seeing the positive impact this redevelopment will bring.”

The sale marks a new chapter for the site, which has been a cherished part of the West Derby community for generations. The transition to a new use under Liverpool Zoe’s Place ensures that the legacy of community service continues.
